Best skin prep before your wedding day

Congratulations on your upcoming wedding!

With so many things to plan and prepare for, it can be easy to forget to prep the one thing we all want to have on our wedding day - beautiful glowing skin! You want to look and feel your absolute best. To achieve this, it is essential to start prepping your skin well in advance to ensure your skin is glowing and radiant on your wedding day.

Start early

It is essential to start preparing your skin early, ideally six months before your wedding. This will give your skin time to adjust to any new products or treatments you may be using. It will also allow time for any blemishes or other issues to clear up before your wedding day.

Cleanse, Tone, Moisturise (CTM)

The CTM routine is a fundamental aspect of any skincare routine. Cleansing removes dirt, makeup, and other impurities from your skin. Toning helps to balance your skin's pH and prepare it for moisturising. Moisturising keeps your skin hydrated and supple. Follow this routine twice a day, morning and night.

Exfoliate

Exfoliating your skin is essential to remove dead skin cells, unclog pores, and promote cell turnover. Use a gentle exfoliator once or twice a week to avoid irritation. Avoid over-exfoliation, as it can cause dryness, redness, and other skin problems. I like to use peel pads or chemical exfoliation as they are just so effective and leave your skin super soft and clear. Try the Dr Dennis Gross Alpha Beta Peel pads (I've linked my fav - the extra strength - but if you're a newbie try the gentle version first!).

Protect your skin from the sun

Sun exposure is one of the leading causes of premature aging and skin damage. Protect your skin from the sun by wearing a broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30 or 50 every day, even on cloudy days. My favourite serum sunscreen is Ultra Violet Queen Screen - I just love the texture it feels amazing - and then scent is divine!

Stay hydrated

Drinking plenty of water is crucial for maintaining healthy skin. It helps to flush out toxins and keeps your skin hydrated from the inside out.

Get enough sleep

Getting enough sleep is essential for healthy skin. Lack of sleep can cause dark circles, dullness, puffiness and other skin issues. Aim for seven to eight hours of sleep per night.

Consider professional treatments

Professional treatments like facials, chemical peels, and microdermabrasion can help to improve your skin's texture, tone, and overall appearance. Consult with a skincare professional to determine which treatments are best for your skin type and needs.

Preparing your skin for your wedding day might seem like a bit of effort - but it really is worthwhile. By starting early and getting the steps right you can achieve flawless glowing skin on your special day.

Remember, your skin is a reflection of your overall health and wellbeing, so take care of yourself inside and out. Best wishes for a beautiful wedding day!
